Q. How do I register for The 60 North Run Challenge?

Q. What is The 60 North Run Challenge?
It’s a 60km, 120km or 180km virtual challenge to start the year. The 60th parallel is what divides the provinces from the territories.
Q. When does the 60 North Run take place?
From Jan 1st to Jan 31st, 2024. The best way to start the year with a bang.
Q. How do I find out more about the Charities you are helping?
Our goal is to raise $20,000. This year the 60 North Run supports Polar Bears International, the CHEO Foundation and Discovery House.
Q. How does The 60 North Run Challenge work?
Just lace up your shoes during January and track you’re km on your personal tracking page.
Q. How much does The 60 North Run cost?
$99 CAD, includes free SWAG shipping to Canada.

Q. Can I compete Internationally?
Yes! We just ask for a nominal $15 CAD for additional shipping charges if outside Canada.
Q. Who does The 60 North Run benefit?
This year the 60 North Run supports Polar Bears International, the CHEO Foundation and Discovery House.
Q. Are there shipping charges?
No – shipping is included within Canada. Just $15 CAD for international shipping.
Q. When will I receive my SWAG?
We will start sending items out mid February. You do not need to finish the race to receive the swag.
Q. Can I register after January 1st?
Yes! You can register until January 5 or when the event is full.
Q. How do I download my bib number to share on social media?
After registration, you should receive an email with your BIB number and printable. Please contact us for support if you have any issues.
Q. How to redeem a gift registration?
If you purchased gift registrations, you will find them on your account settings page here. There, you will see which codes have been redeemed and which ones are still available. To redeem a gift registration, share the code with the person that will use it to register and enter it during the registration process in the “Have a Code” section. It is essential for each participant to have their own account.
Q. How to apply a discount code?
If you have a discount code, you can apply it on the checkout page. Discounts can not be applied retroactively.
Q. I purchased Special Edition socks; when will I receive them?
Your socks will be shipped along with your medal and SWAG in February.
Q. I purchased a strength training program when registering; how do I access it?
Your strength training program access appeared on the confirmation page when you registered. If you need the access link, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Q. Can I change my distance?
Once the event starts we are unable to accommodate distance changes. The integrity of the event relies on consistent rules for all participants.
Q. Are there refunds or transfers?
Registration for The 60 North Run is non-refundable, non-deferrable and non-transferrable. Discounts are not retroactive.
Q. How do I track and report my run?
You will have a personal page to report and track your runs. More info here.
Q. What stops participants from cheating?
We do have many ways to identify cheating. However, we acknowledge that no matter what we do, some people will always cheat, as they do at in-person events, if that’s what they want to do. There are no prizes for finishing faster. If someone wants to cheat, they are fooling themselves and wasting their money.
Q. Can I run on a treadmill? What about Trail miles?
Yes, you may run either outdoors or on a treadmill. Yes, for Trail miles.
Q. Does walking count?
Yes! Running, walking, hiking, skipping, galloping, trotting – anything completed on foot & wheelchair count!
Q. Does XC skiing counts?
Q. Do I need a GPS watch/tracker or Strava? Will I need to show my watch or device for proof of running?
You can use one if you wish, but we are on the honor system here. There are no additional awards given for running faster; just finish.
Q. Do I have to run a specific distance each day, or can I break it up and run more over the weekends?
You can run or walk as much or as little as you want on a given day. Just add your kilometres during January to finish.
Q. I’m running in another race during the same period as The 60 North Run. Can I count those km?
Q. If I register after the race starts on January 1st, can I include my kms since January 1st?
Q. I don’t have time to log km on a regular basis. Is there an option to not have to do this?
Yes! Since it’s the Honor System, if you decide that you don’t want to enter your km regularly, and you don’t care about watching yourself vs. others on the leaderboard, you can log weekly, monthly, or you can keep up with your own km, and when you finish just log your final distance on a single entry.
Q. When can I log my kilometres?
You can log your distance starting January 1st at 12:01am ET until January 31st at 11:59 ET.
Q. Where can I run or walk the Challenge?
Wherever you are! The joy of participating in a virtual challenge is you can start right outside your front door. Please follow the guidelines outlined by your local government regarding social distancing and physical activity outdoors to ensure you are keeping yourself and your community safe.
Q. Are there any Challenge Safety Tips?
Complete your challenge solo or following your local health authority’s safety guidelines.
If you are moving with someone, respect the space needs of others; move on a single file, allowing others to pass you easily and safely.
Avoid high-traffic pedestrian and vehicle areas. Run or walk close to home in your neighborhood during a quieter time of day.
Adhere to safety practices while you are out running or walking. Can you safely pass someone? Can you run safely on the road? Make sure you always have a safe way to move around people to keep everyone safe.
You may complete your challenge using a treadmill if that is an option available to you and that you would prefer.
Wear appropriate clothing. Be visible and dress for the weather.
Bring water and/or nutrition if you’re planning a longer route. There are no water stations in a virtual event.
Carry a cell phone with you and tell someone the route you will follow in case of an emergency.
